Accommodation near Marlo

Stay here, spend your days at Marlo

Marlo sits at the mouth of the Snowy River, where the river opens into a broad estuary and then into Bass Strait. It is about a twenty minute drive south of us - close enough to go down for the morning, come back for lunch, and go again in the evening if the fish are on.

The estuary is the drawcard. It is calm water, good for fishing from the bank or a small boat, and the jetty is usually lined with pelicans. Beyond the river mouth the ocean beaches run east towards Cape Conran, mostly empty even in summer.

What people go to Marlo for

  • Estuary and beach fishing at the mouth of the Snowy River
  • Long, quiet ocean beaches with room to walk a dog
  • Cape Conran Coastal Park a little further east
  • Birdlife on the estuary - pelicans, swans and waders
  • The drive itself, out through the Snowy River flats

Why base yourself here instead

Marlo is small. Staying at Newmerella puts you twenty minutes away with a supermarket, fuel and the pub at Orbost in between, plenty of room to leave a boat or trailer beside your room, and a quiet night in big grounds backed by bushland. If you are towing, that matters more than the extra twenty minutes.

We are pet friendly too, which suits the beaches down that way. See pet friendly accommodation or the tariffs.
